My Journey
Welcome! I’m Dr. Cassandra Hawkins, an accomplished educator, researcher, and strategic leader dedicated to fostering innovation and transformative change through education, public policy, and community engagement. Since 2005, I have developed a distinguished career rooted in public administration, rural public policy, and agricultural policy, with a proven track record of creating sustainable solutions for diverse communities. My expertise spans higher education leadership, program development, policy analysis, and research, enabling me to navigate complex challenges and drive impactful outcomes.
As a thought leader and advocate for equity and inclusion, I have collaborated with academic institutions, government organizations, and nonprofit entities to design and implement forward-thinking strategies that inspire growth, empower individuals, and strengthen communities. My approach combines academic rigor, data-driven insights, and innovative problem-solving to deliver measurable results aligned with organizational and societal goals.
Holding a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration from Jackson State University, my academic journey has been continuous learning and growth. I have also earned a Master of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the same institution, providing me with a solid foundation to approach challenges from multiple perspectives. I am an MFA student in Documentary Expression at the University of Mississippi.
My Professional Background
As the Associate Director of Data and Quality Management, I spearhead data management, quality assurance, and operational strategies to advance organizational excellence. My role includes developing and implementing protocols, overseeing daily operations, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to enhance data systems, ensure compliance, and improve information reliability. Additionally, I design and deliver professional development initiatives, empowering colleagues to strengthen their skills and drive organizational success.
With a rich background in community engagement, my work as a Community-Based Participatory Researcher and Consultant highlights my commitment to impactful initiatives. I participated in transformative projects such as the Food is Medicine Initiative, designed comprehensive curricula, and guided student research teams to develop policy recommendations that address systemic challenges.
In academia, I have served as an Assistant Professor, Graduate Program Coordinator, English Instructor, ESL Instructor, and Special Education Teacher. My contributions have included teaching, advising, and conducting research that fosters academic growth and innovation. Known affectionately by my students as “The Bougie Professor,” I have built a reputation for inspiring excellence, creativity, and critical thinking in diverse learning environments.
